Allergy emergencies: Would your staff know what to do?
Practical, Confidence-Building Strategies to Keep Every Pupil Safe
Seminar Brief
Allergy management isn’t just a policy, it’s a responsibility. With serious allergic reactions in schools rising by 500% over the past decade, it is important that staff feel confident, prepared, and supported in responding to an emergency.
As part of their ongoing commitment to allergy management and supporting schools, HCL have commissioned this session led by Sarah Knight, Founder of The Allergy Team and mother of two children with allergies.
In this interactive workshop Sarah will guide you through what you need to know about risk reduction and emergency management, from the day to day, to the strategic. Using learnings from recent inquests where pupils have died from allergic reactions at school she will provide practical advice on interrogating procedures: finding out if your allergy policy is fit for purpose and stress testing your emergency response.
She will also take you through an anaphylaxis drill and how to respond to an emergency.
IN THIS SEMINAR WE EXPLORE
Why allergy risk is increasing—and what that means for your school
How an anaphylaxis drill can prepare staff to act under pressure
Does your allergy policy work in practice, not just on paper
Inclusive allergy management from classroom to canteen
Sharing the practical approach The Allergy Team
Take home points
Walk away with tools to review your allergy processes, train your team, and build confidence across your staff. Every attendee will receive a certificate confirming training in adrenaline auto-injector use.
